Pill dispenser

A medication dispenser removes the burden of remembering which tablets to take when. It is very helpful for older people, those with memory and/or mental health problems who are prone to poor medication adherence, partly due to the amount of tablets they take. The Pill Dispenser reminds the user by means of an alarm and a flashing light when to take their medication. It makes the correct dose available at the correct time of day or night, whilst keeping all other pills secure. If the user fails to access the medication, an alert is sent to the alarm receiving centre via the social alarm unit for help.

How does it work?

The medication dispenser has 28 individual compartments accessed via a lockable lid, to be filled and programmed by the user, relative, carer or pharmacist to dispense pills. Once set up, it allows the user to take their medication within a set time frame, and can also act as a reminder. If the user does not access their medication, an alert is raised at the alarm receiving centre. Time and date of the next dose can be viewed on the screen by a simple press of a button. The dispenser is easily programmed via the LCD screen, with settings also for alert tone, volume, visual flash, and daylight savings time.

What problem does it solve?

Remembering to take daily medication can be the difference between life and death for many people. However, people often forget, so a medication reminder can be a great way to help them remember to take their pills.
